70-Year-Old Woman Suffers Life-Altering Injuries After Being Hit by Car in Southwest Calgary

Calgary police are investigating after a pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash involving a Toyota Corolla on Saturday night.

The collision happened near 58 Avenue S.W. and 2 Street S.W.

Woman Struck While Crossing Road

Police said officers were called to the area shortly before 8 p.m.

According to investigators, a 70-year-old woman was crossing 58 Avenue S.W. at the intersection when she was hit by a black 2012 Toyota Corolla travelling westbound.

Pedestrian Suffers Life-Altering Injuries

The woman suffered life-altering injuries in the collision.

Emergency medical services transported her to hospital for treatment.

Police said the driver of the Toyota remained at the scene after the crash.

Impairment and Speed Not Believed to Be Factors

At this stage of the investigation, police do not believe drugs, alcohol or speed contributed to the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to gather information.
