Remaining Boston Bar Residents Told to ‘Leave Now’ as Fast-Moving Fire Spreads

The Fraser Valley Regional District has issued an urgent warning directing everyone still in Boston Bar, British Columbia, to evacuate immediately.

The community has remained under an evacuation order since Thursday, but some residents reportedly chose not to leave. Officials have not confirmed how many people stayed behind.

“You are in danger and need to evacuate now,” the regional district warned, emphasizing that residents must leave the community for their own safety.

Wildfire More Than Triples in Size

A new wildfire burning south of Boston Bar grew rapidly Tuesday evening as strong winds pushed the flames across a wider area.

By 10 p.m. PT, the fire had reached approximately 1,000 hectares, or 10 square kilometres. Earlier that evening, it was estimated at only 300 hectares, equivalent to three square kilometres.

The B.C. Wildfire Service has classified the blaze as out of control. This designation means the fire is continuing to spread or is expected to expand further.

Officials identified the blaze as a spot fire connected to the Brunswick Creek wildfire.

More Properties Placed Under Evacuation Order

Additional evacuation orders were announced Tuesday evening for properties near Hell’s Gate and along the Scuzzy Creek Forest Service Road, south of Boston Bar.

Residents in affected areas have been advised to follow official evacuation instructions and review the latest emergency notices.

Highway 1 Closed Near Wildfire Zone

Highway 1 has been closed in both directions between three kilometres south of Jackass Mountain Summit and 22 kilometres north of Yale.

Highway 5 is serving as an alternate route. People leaving Boston Bar have been instructed to travel northbound on Highway 1.

Brunswick Creek Wildfire Complex Remains Active

The Brunswick Creek wildfire complex includes the Brunswick Creek and Ainslie Creek fires, both of which have been burning since early July.

During the previous week, the complex led to evacuation orders affecting approximately 450 properties across the region.

Evacuee Reception Centre Opened in Kamloops

The Fraser Valley Regional District has established a reception centre for displaced residents at the McArthur Island Sports Centre in Kamloops.

The centre is located at 1665 Island Parkway and is available to support people evacuating from the affected communities.

Boston Bar is situated in British Columbia’s Fraser Canyon, approximately 140 kilometres northeast of Vancouver in a straight line.

The rapidly expanding wildfire near Boston Bar continues to create dangerous conditions for residents and travellers.

Anyone remaining under an evacuation order must leave immediately, follow designated routes and monitor official emergency updates as strong winds may cause the fire to spread further.
