Teen Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash Near Cornwall, Two Others Airlifted to Hospital

A 16-year-old girl has died, while two other people suffered serious injuries following a single-vehicle collision near Cornwall, Ontario.

Ontario Provincial Police officers and emergency crews were called to Headline Road, close to County Road 19 in South Stormont, at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Sunday.

Teenager Pronounced Dead at the Scene

Police said the 16-year-old girl from Cornwall was pronounced dead at the collision scene.

Two other occupants of the vehicle were seriously injured. They were initially transported to a nearby hospital before being airlifted to a hospital in the Ottawa area for further medical treatment.

The Ontario Provincial Police have not released additional information about the individuals involved or their current conditions.

“To respect the privacy of the families involved, no further information will be released,” the OPP stated in a Sunday morning news release.

Headline Road Closed During Investigation

Following the serious collision, Headline Road was closed in both directions between County Road 19 and County Road 42.

The closure allowed police officers and investigators to examine the scene and determine the circumstances surrounding the single-vehicle crash.

Motorists travelling through the South Stormont area were advised to avoid the affected section of Headline Road and use alternative routes.

The investigation into the collision remains ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information that may assist investigators is being asked to contact the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police.
