Second Suspect Wanted After Fatal Tent Fire in Ontario City

Police in Greater Sudbury are searching for a second suspect in connection with a deadly tent fire that investigators are treating as a homicide.

The fire happened on June 11 at an encampment on Energy Court and resulted in the death of a 41-year-old man.

Second Suspect Identified

According to a Sudbury police news release, detectives have identified 31-year-old Bryan Eshquib as a suspect in the case.

Police say he is wanted on several charges, including first-degree murder, arson with disregard for human life, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Fire Broke Out at Energy Court Encampment

Emergency crews were called to the Energy Court encampment at about 3:40 a.m. on June 11 after reports that two tents were on fire.

After firefighters put out the flames, they found a deceased person inside one of the tents.

Victim Identified as Greater Sudbury Man

The victim was later identified as a 41-year-old man from Greater Sudbury.

His name has not been released by police.

First Suspect Already Charged

Police previously arrested 33-year-old Brandon Gramling-McEwan in relation to the fatal fire.

He has been charged with first-degree murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of arson with disregard for human life, two counts of arson causing property damage, and possession of incendiary material.

Police Ask Public for Information

Investigators are asking anyone with information about Bryan Eshquib’s whereabouts to contact police.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

Police noted that the allegations have not been proven in court.
