Two Pedestrians Killed in Toronto After Vehicle Crashes Into Pole

Two pedestrians have died and three people were injured after a vehicle crashed in Scarborough on Thursday afternoon, according to Toronto paramedics.

The collision happened near Birchmount Road and Lawrence Avenue East.

Two Pedestrians Fatally Struck

Paramedics said a man and a woman in their 60s were struck and killed.

Police said the vehicle also hit a pole and knocked it down during the crash.

Three People Taken to Hospital

Paramedics said three people were inside the vehicle at the time.

They included a six-year-old child and two women in their 60s.

First responders said their injuries were minor, but because the vehicle was badly damaged, all three were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Roads Closed in the Area

Police said roads near Birchmount Road and Lawrence Avenue East were blocked after the collision.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes while emergency crews responded.
